The ABC Children’s Group at the ABA

September 29, 2008 - Comments Off

Hello, and welcome to the ABC Children’s Group at ABA, formerly known as the Association of Booksellers for Children (ABC).

Since its founding as a non-profit trade association in 1985, ABC has been making independent booksellers stronger through its programs, communication tools, and strategic alliances.

ABC connects booksellers, publishers, and other book professionals all over the country, and provides a virtual space for ideas and community. Through ABC booksellers speak with one voice to keep independent children’s bookselling strong.

It’s programs include an annual ABC Best Books for Children Catalog, several children’s books awards including the E.B. White Read Aloud Awards, regular programming at Book Expo America, a national list serv, a New Voices program to draw attention to great books by new authors, and other forms of education and advocacy.

In January 2011, ABC merged with its larger sister association, the American Booksellers Association (ABA) where its work continues.
